Not been paid my weekly pay overtime!

I work for the nhs and am full time my usual salary and enhancements get paid to me monthly. My overtime however goes through a weekly pay bank system. I worked the weekend last week and put in a weekly pay timesheet for the 15 hours but they have not paid me this week. Where do I stand in demanding the money ASAP. They usually tell us to wait until next week for it but I was relying on it as I am going away. Am I able to kick up about it or do I just have to wait for it. Any thoughts or info would be helpful.

    Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.
  • That's what I thought but it's just so annoying they expect you to work extra but can't see that people work because they were desperate for money. They say that my monthly pay has been paid so that's it. It always happens and when I work overtime I assume they will pay me as in my contract so I spend my normal wages thinking it will be ok I'll get paid my weekly pay.

if you put in overtime for a weekend it will often get processed in the following weeks wages, not the week you did it. Your working week might be Saturday - Friday rather than Monday to Sunday

Have you asked them why they didn't pay it?
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.

If i worked for the NHS and had an issue with the payroll department, I often wonder who it would be best to talk to to resolve the situation: the NHS payroll team, or a bunch of anonymous people on MSE forums.

Does anyone have any advice on who would be best to help resolve this issue please?

    Check with payroll,

MY OH NHS place have put in new procedures over the last few months and payroll are tight on the right sigs on the time sheet.

Can take 2 pay cycles(month) to get it right, but she only works odd days.

You have no right to demand the money ASAP. A week to process it is more than reasonable.

You should not be relying on overtime pay for any reason - it could stop tomorrow.

    Wrong.

It would not be a week to process it, it is already a week late, it would therefore have taken two.

It is evident that overtime is paid weekly and is therefore custom & practice. They have failed to do this and have technically breached the agreement on pay dates.

The NHS, as a massive employer, will no doubt have a faster payments system in place where payments can be made within two hours.

The OP simply needs to go to payroll and explain they need their (already late) wage asap.

Regardless of this payment being overtime it is still part of her wages, overtime being nothing unusual in the NHS, and she is reliant on it.

Overtime is even often treated as basic pay when applying for a mortgage, that is how reliant some people are on it.

And what world do you live in where overtime could end tomorrow in the NHS?:rotfl:

I am not wrong. That is still not unreasonable.

Rubbish. No such claim would ever be held up by a tribunal, unless there was a clear intention to delay for an unreasonable period or not to pay at all.

Hardly - the bigger the employer the less likely they are able to circumvent their automated systems.

Only if it is guaranteed overtime, you will find. Employers are asked to confirm it as such.

I was speaking hypothetically - you have no more knowledge of the likelihood of overtime continuing for this poster than I have.

Now quit stalking me round this board eh?
