Motorbike repairs
Options
I wonder if anyone can help. I have a Honda CBR 125 motorbike which will be sold after I pass my test (hopefully in a month or so). Unfortuntely whilst trying to get it into the holding area at work I managed to drop it against a concrete pillar and have put a rather nice dent in the fuel tank. I think I'm probably going to need a new fuel tank (as it'll probably be as cheap to do that as opposed to getting it repaired). Does anyone know of a reputable garage where they could look at and advise me accordingly. I live in the Bolton area and my brother took his bike to the main dealership in Bolton after he damanged his on a track day and they gave him an estimate but then did extra work and upped the price without telling him so I'm reluctant about taking it there. He also took it in for servicing and getting a new battery fitted to the main Honda dealers in Didsbury where he bought it from as he'd left his hot grips on and again they told him it would need a new battery and told him how much that would be but then re-wired the hot-grips and charged him for it without telling him.

Take it to the dealership and ask them to advise you before they do anything that will cost more than you are willing to spend.
As for the wiring work, surely you'd want the hotgrips wired correctly so that they can not be left on accidentally or turned on by passing jokers? Also the wires could have been damaged if the battery had been charged in the bike0 -
I'd have a look on ebay and ring round a few scrappers to try a get a replacement tank. You should be able to get the right colour as there's loads of these bikes around.
New ones are an absolute fortune. They are a doddle to swap over as well.0 -
Have a word with Nick at http://www.forcemotorcycles.com he's a bit far from you, I'd guess, but might be able to give some ideas on what to do - really helpfull & knoledgable guy.
He sells/services Honda - as well as other makes, mostly dealing in Police & military machines - worth the call & a peek at at his site.
You might even see a replacement for when you pass your test!!
