Motorbike race

I want to organise a surprise for OH for his birthday in December and as he loves his motorbike thought it might be nice for him to go and see a race.

We are in S Wales and I would ideally like it to be somewhere within a reasonable travelling distance.

I'm afraid December is out of season for motorbike racing (partially due to the weather we're likely to have and partially because they're getting ready for the next season - which tends to begin in March and end in November).

You might be lucky to find some smaller events on Boxing Day, but that's about it. The only track I can think of in South Wales is Pembrey and I can't find anything on there.

Maybe somebody else could be of more help, but its really the wrong time of year.

New track in Anglesey, never been though.
The nearest one to you is Aberdare where they race around the park near the town centre, very close viewing and tight track, quick though, only about 25-30 miles from Cardiff.
Pembrey, not been since mid 90's but I think it has been redeveloped.
Castle Coombe in Wiltshire
Thruxton in Hampshire near Andover.
The only one that I know does anything over Christmas is Mallory Park in Leicestershire (near Hinkley) which has the annual Plum Pudding races on Boxing Day, reindeer antlers on top of crash helmet etc.
Best from about March/April though.

You will be very lucky to find anything this time of year. Its out of season. April time is about the best time

How about a track day? Have a look at Ron Haslam race school- they are based at Silverstone which would be about a 3 hour trip. Dont know if they would do it in December though
