Damage caused by Repair. Help!

I'd be quite happy. What would you have done had you put the wrong fuel in? Would you just have a drain and refill or would you fork out £1000s for a new pump and injectors? As the TDCi Mondeo is purported to have injector issues, I cannot help but feel that there is a hidden agenda on your part judging by the overreaction......
if the OP put the wrong fuel in and decided not to replace pump, injectors etc then they are saving the money but they are also carrying the risk of a future fault/shortened life of the components.
As the garage put the wrong fuel in then by deciding not to replace pump, injectors etc then they are saving the money but are passing the risk of a future fault/shortened life of the components on to the OP not to mention the car warranty which you can guarantee will be invalidated on any future fuel system faults.
OP….I’d get Ford involved and get them to specify exactly what (if anything) needs to be replaced in order to fix the car and maintain your warranty. Once you have that in writing then chase the insurance company to sort it out.0 -
Diesel kills catalytic convertors.
And petrol kills high pressure pumps, guess which is more expensive to fix?I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -

You shouldn't be the one left carrying the risk.0 -
I've had both happen. Petrol in a diesel and diesel in a petrol. We drained the tank bled the system through and filled the tank completely full with the correct fuel and had no problems. Vehicle were still going for many more years.
As Hammyman said, if you'd done it yourself what would you have done. Would you have paid out for all the work you want doing? Somehow I don't think you would.0 -
the distance travelled would be my concern for components such as the turbo if it has one.
if its under dealer warranty theres going to be issue here, 1, the repair done at an approved insurance garage and not a ford approved body shop, 2, have they fitted ford parts?, if not good by warranty, hello rapid devaluation.
to ask for a 3 year garantee on any failures linked to the wrong fuel! sorry but how would you prove it?0 -
The other issue of course is always the variable, ie, what was the ratio of wrong fuel to right fuel?
I'm hazzarding a guess that 20% either way would not cause any long lasting issues, get to 50/50 and it's likely if driven far. Above that well, just don't turn that key
I understand that most people actually realise what they've done before they leave the pump, doesn't help those that don't tho'I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
