Both my car and house are due for renewal.
My car insurance renewal quote was £500.
This was:
£413 basic premium
£ 42 Rescue
£ 45 Interest
If I was a new customer it'd be £343
£307 basic premium
£ 35 Rescue
£ 0 Interest.
Thanks Direct Line
Moving onto Home Insurance
My renewal quote was £353
New customer cost is £175.
And yes I have checked all excesses.
I know this is a known issue but it really annoys me. Anyhow, just a rant.

Direct Line often run year one discounting at a loss. Discounts dont seem to be appreciated so they may as well stop them.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -
Well become 'new' customer and get the cheaper premium. ie.. let you old policy lapse and take out a new one (preferably via a cashback site as an extra bonus). Nothing wrong in doing this, done this myself a few times.
To save a lot of hassle all round confront them with the cheaper quotes, saying you're going elsewhere. You might be surprised how accomodating they suddenly become.0
