CarShop & Perrys Used Car dealers...
Both state that there list price on there vechicles is the final price, NO negotiations!!!
Now I have only brought one car in the last 10 yrs, but I always felt you could negotiate on car sales, or is this not the case anymore?
Anyone had any postitive or Negative experiences with either of these companies, would love to be able to use a successful tactic!!

If they won't negotiate go somewhere else. About ten years ago I was looking at a car on a Sunday, offered £500 less than windscreen price, offer rejected. Next weeks Auto Trader, same car and dealer £500 cheaper. Never could work out why my offer was rejected, needless to say I bought another car elsewhere.0

I went to carshop in Swindon - the first time to have a look round at their cars. They don't like you doing this - they want you to sit down with a salesman first, who asks what you're looking for.
If they have something you like, they will try and get you to sign something saying you will buy it if they can do the part exchange deal. This was before they had looked at my car and before I had seen their car. Sign something at this stage? I don't think so.
I had a look at their car which was rather grotty and nothing like the description - I pointed this out, to be told it was accurately reflected on the website and I wouldn't find another model cheaper anywhere. Having done some homework, I proceeded to show them details of 6 other cars at dealers within 50 miles, where the car was either a better spec, lower mileage or looked to be in better condition. At this point, the salesman went away to get Mr Nasty, who really was quite a nasty piece of work. He got very aggressive with me and accused me of wasting their time. I pointed out that I had merely taken their claim at its word and showed them how they were NOT the cheapest in the area by a long stretch.
I said I would be leaving them now and Mr Nasty decided to come and have a look at my car. I told him I didn't want him to, and he started barging me in the corridor towards the car park - I couldn't believe this as I was with one of my sons, and found this incredibly intimidating.
I repeat - NEVER go to CARSHOP. A lot of their cars are ex-rental, over-priced rubbish. Their sales techniques are aggressive and highly dubious. STEER WELL CLEAR.
I did write to them regarding Mr Nasty's behaviour, and they did have the courtesy to write apologising for the incident.0 -

Not necessarily good advice. I'd rather have £0 off a car at £10,000 than £1,000 off the same car with a sticker price of £12,000.Inner_Zone wrote: »

Had you a trade in by any chance? Often dealers build the discount available on their forecourt price into their trade in offer, therefore they may not have been able to knock £500 off when they already had it added to your car. Its common practice among many dealers to have 'trade in' prices on their forecourt, but 'straight sale / discounted' prices when advertising in the likes of autotrader.0
