Renew AA or choose First Directory
Options
I'm wondering whether I should renew my AA membership (Roadside + Home Start + Relay = £169.78), or if it might be worthwhile signing up for First Directory, the 'extra value' account available from my bank, First Direct. That costs £12/month, and includes various things, among them roadside breakdown assistance - more details here: http://www1.firstdirect.com/1/2/travel/first-directory
I realise that there's much less covered with the First Directory motoring service, but I wonder if anyone has experience of using them? Are they as quick to arrive as AA? As good?
Am I paying over the odds for my AA cover anyway? They're great when I need them, but I realise I had no call to use them at all in the past year.
And any general opinions about First Directory?
Thanks!

You're definitely paying too much for The AA. I phoned to cancel mine on Monday as I've got RAC Roadside through Barclays, and I was offered a 50% discount straight away (£42 for Roadside + Relay, down from a renewal price of £84). If you do decide to stick with The AA, phone them up, say you're thinking of leaving and see what deal they'll give you.0

Green Flag I moved from AA last year? or as mcjordi says play individuals off against each other at renewal this year I did the same and they dropped to match a new quote.
The AA is not the same as the one Dad joined;)
But then I am not a fan of "affinity" accounts the benefits aren't always as comprehensive as the headlines."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

I joined the AA a few month ago for about £20, (I dont need Homestart etc, just the basic pack) also included in the pack when I got it was a years free Home Rescue Service.
Brilliant, all my electric lights went out in the house on Monday and were fixed free of charge under this free insurance. I was well
