Question about LHA (housing benefit), anniversary dates and the single person rate

  • I think it originally was. There are two rooms upstairs (my bedrom and my living room) and a little walk-in cupboard on the stairs which is just used for storage (it's probably too small to be classed as a room)

Downstairs there's the kitchen, bathroom, and two unused rooms (one pretty big, one pretty small - I think the small one is slightly too small to fit a bed in, but the big one is actually quite a decent size. They're not empty, though - they've got a load of old furniture and stuff in.

I don't like to use the downstairs because the floorboards are creaky and the people in the shop can hear every move I make and every word I say.

So I suppose it could be classed as two-bedroom but the rent is only £275 per month and I only ever claimed as a single person.

    Why do you ask?
