Official investigation into Asprea?

How would one initiate an official consumer investigation into Asprea's misconduct in claim handling and and blatant claim evasion tactics please?
As it stands they are entirely a law unto themselves, Insurance policy holders are being duped by this wholly unscrupulous bullying company. I am at the later stage in the complaint process and due to apply to the ombudsman however isolated cases such as mine will not serve to make them alter their modus operandi as it is worth too much for them financially, as such nothing short of a wide reaching public investigation would suffice.
Thanks.

Dear OP
You are not alone.....just search for Asprea in the forums and you will find tens upon tens of threads about them0 -
Asprea was a Carillion company with their own Surveyors and a list of Sub Contractors working exclusively for Aviva formaly known as Norwich Union
Every item of a claim is measured at so much per square metre or per item with a cost which makes up a scope of works and price for a Sub Contractor to be paid upon completion of works
This only works properly if the Surveyor dos not miss any of the items off the scope of works or under values material costs ie worktops floor tiles wallpaper ect
About 35 % of the Asprea Surveyors are not up to the job - Rather than admit to a Manager they had messed the scope of works up by missing items or under costing like for like material costs ect
they would often try and give the impression the Sub Contractor Builder was trying to increase their profit margin by over exagerating the amount of missed items or the actual cost- value of like for like material costs
This would result in the claim being held up whilst much internal wrangling got underway resulting in Policy Holders waiting for long periods of time for work to start and or works to re start
Aviva bourght the company in house in late 2009 early -2010 and discovered it was cheaper to offer the Policy Holder two thirds of the value of the scope of works as a cash settlement
This may cut the hassle out in one way but you as a Policy Holder are being conned as often more work is required than can be visabely seen before things are taken apart such as ceiling removed and then joists need replacing ect -- Where as a Contractor can ask for a variation ie extra money for unforeseen works A cash settled Policy Holder may not or may not be aware they can ask for additional costs for unforeseen damge not evident on the initial Asprea Survey0 -
The worst culprits for underpaying the true value of a Structual Ins Claim are Aviva formally known as Norwich Union
On average Zurich Municipal or Liverpool Victoria ( LV) for eg were far better and more fairer0 -

Complain to the Insurance Ombudsman get 3 independent quotes for the work with actual material and labour costs on a like for like basis with photographic evidence + keep a log of every date and time of all that occures from day one of your claim This will expose Asprea for what they are polite excuse merchants well skilled in pr but not much else0 -
If a firm is appointed by an insurer then it is the insurer that you should complain to. They have 8 weeks from receipt of the complaint.
Similarly, if your insurer appoints a contractor to carry out the work and it is substandard you complain to the insurer (and can take it to the Financial Ombudsman Service).
If you appoint a contractor and they fail it is normally down to you. The only case I know of where the Ombudsman forced the insurer to sort it out is one where they forced the insured to choose a quote far below any others and the contractor did a poor job.0
