Ive seen some net books on ebay for around £70. I was thinking of getting a couple for my children for xmas. (children are 8 & 6). Dont want to spend any more than this. But, will they be worth it for kids?

They will only use it for homework (projects etc, searching on web for information) and for playing games like moshi monsters.

The little bit I do understand about them is that they have a small memory. Does this mean that they will go very slow in no time?

Are these going to be a worthwhile buy to last for a couple of years until they are old enough to get something else?

We already have a reasonably good laptop that they borrow so we can still use that for other things if need be.

    What spec are they?

And IME, the best thing you can do with any netbook is to put in as much memory as you can. Everything runs so much better!

Post a link. But at that price they'll have a clockwork processor that will be next to useless.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

    NO! Don't do it!:D

These threads come up with alarming regularity. They are just a load of old rubbish and will end up in the bin.

You'll get better value for money from a Disgo tablet - at least it'll be able to play movies :)

Minimum price for a worthwhile netbook historically has been about £120-135, and mostly because they were trying to get rid of stock.

They run Windows CE, which is used to run cash machines, or some version of Linux nobody has heard of. You will find they have a slow processor, minimal RAM and are horrific to use. Your children would hate using them.
