I am not sure its a green question but I am looking for a mangle, ebay have some really old ones that cost a pretty penny but I just want a usable one at a reasonable price any ideas???
I rent a flat above a launderette and its a clause in my lease that I am not allowed a washing machine installed.. the idea being that the landlord will make extra money out of me using his launderette but I begrudge paying to do my washing and to be honest I dont really want to air my dirty laundry infront of my landlord lol I have been handwashing everything for a while now but have carpul tunnel in my wrist and struggle wringing out the bigger things so figure a mangle would help..
any ideas?

Hello,
Maybe a spin dryer would be better? I had a compact one, a few years ago. It worked really well. I've not seen a mangle for years!
Sorry if that's no help!0 -
A spin dryer was my first thought, too. My Mam used to swear by hers! From Starrystarrynight to Starrystarrynight1 and now I'm back...don't have a clue how!0

spin Drier is definetly the way to go. I have used one for years. Even though I had a washing machine it still comes in useful for spinning clothes really dry. Even these can be hard to find. many shops dont have them but they last for years. As to a mangle. not seen one for years.0

thank you... I will have a look for a spin drier0

I'd agree with the spin dryer idea - a mangle may aggravate the carpel tunnel.
Spotted this one

I can sooo solve this get yourself a twin tub washing machine.
It is not 'plumbed' in (Plumbed being the operative word in the lease)
Im damned if i would pay a lauderette just because the landlord owns it
Outrageous :mad:0 -
I know its a crafty clause in the lease unfortunately the kitchen is tiny with no space for a twin tub
I am going to try getting one of those heavy duty mop buckets that you pull the leaver to squidge out the mop and see if that will work for some laundry

Twin tubs aren't that big (you can also use the top of them as a surface in the room when not in use) but you still do need some space for them. I've had one for years and was very happy with it, the clothes were washed well and I didn't find it excessively hard work. Before that I did wash everything in the bath so it was a big improvement - but maybe it wouldn't be so great if going from an automatic machine as it does require you to stand there during washing to work the controls?0
