Barclaycard credit limit?

I have just applied online for a Barclaycard Gold Visa and been accepted. However, the interest rate and credit limit I have been given were not displayed. I'm led to believe that Barclaycard don't use rate for risk. Does anyone know if this is correct?

I applied for this card after using their pre-application check which said I'd have a 70-80% chance of being accepted for the gold card and an 80-90% chance of getting their Initial card.

I have had previous credit problems including a small CCJ which is satisfied and is just over 5 years old. Barclaycard say that they will not consider people with CCJs and IVAs within the last 5 years. I have a mobile phone contract (with free home broadband showing as a seperate account) and a current account showing on my CRF with 2 years of no missed payments. There are no other credit accounts showing on my file (good or bad).

Has anybody else on here with a CCJ still showing on their CRF been accepted for a Barclaycard? and what credit limit did you get initially?

I'm a bit impatient. I know it'll be on the letter that the card is attached to. I plan to pay my little lads nursery fees with it (£500) and then pay it off weekly when I get the tax credits for it clearing it in full each month. However, I'm not expecting to get a very good initial credit limit (I'm guessing £300). The reason for getting the card is just to build my credit rating with a view to getting a mortgage after the CCJ comes off my file. The size of limit will make a difference whether I have 2 weeks or a months free credit as if limit is really low I will have to pay for half the nursery fees up front (which I struggle to do at the mo - i usually pay them around the 15th)

should have been patient for just an hour longer. just got the email from Barclaycard and I have a £1000 limit. Way more than I expected with the CCJ still showing for another 11 months. It doesnt say anything about interest rate though so I presume its 19.9% as advertised.
or anyone looking at applying I did the application online around 2pm two days ago. It told me that I had been accepted straight away and said that the card would be with me within 5 days. The email says within 10 days.

Barclaycard gave me the same % chances of being accepted so I think it's just a ploy to get anyone to apply.

The initial is my first card, I have minimal-no credit history and they gave me an £800 limit, so I expect you would get £500+ if not more.
  • I have a 5 year and 3 month old CCJ for a grand and they accepted me with a grand credit limit last week.
