I've not booked a holiday with either of them but much prefer to trust kgb, whose canvas photo was brilliant, than groupon, who failed to deliver on an offer, nor did I get my money back. hth0

My friend and I recently bought a voucher from KGB for a 2 night B&B for 2 in Northumberland. Have now redeemed them with no problem. Hotel was OK for what we paid for it, was billed as 4*, but in need of a refurb.
Check out TripAdvisor if you're not sure about the hotel, but should be no problem at Portmerion - in fact I'm seriously thinking of getting this deal - (note to self - get on with it!) only problem is there are over 600 deals sold and the voucher expires 30 January 2012.Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift - the present.

I paid for the Portmerion deal on KGB and was so excited as it's somewhere pretty unique. We wanted a pre Christmas short break and this looked lovely.
I rang the hotel, and after much discussion, found that they have NO availability until end of Jan! And the voucher is only valid until end of Jan!!
At that point the KGBdeal was still live and so other people were probably purchasing the voucher. I was so angry; how can they be knowingly selling something which is not actually available? When I asked the hotel reservation lady about this (I was very polite about it) I was told it wasn't their problem :mad:
Anyhow, to give KGBdeals their dues, I emailed them to complain and request a refund, and they responded a day later to say they were very sorry and would refund. I've had several KGBdeals and Groupons and this is the first I've had a problem with.0 -
You see these complaints about these sites, clearly the hotel here has messed up, not Groupon or KGB in this case.
(And i speak as a hotelier!)0 -
I paid for this deal but could only book 2 midweek dates and we need to change room after the first night!
We're supposed to be going in 2 weeks time but with xmas and procrastination(!) we have yet to book transport and now the trains are looking quite expensive and lengthy. We're in Glasgow so £150+ return each for a 9 hour journey with 2-3 changes each way. Does anyone know of any offers/cheap ways to get to Portmeirion from Glasgow? We could get the Megabus to Manchester or Birmingham perhaps and travel from there, or should we just cut our losses as it's out of season and the weather probably won't be great.0 -
I've used KGB deals a few times and have always been pleased with my purchase. Have also had good experiences with Groupon too.0

We went to the Portmerrion many many years ago it was so beautiful that when the KGB came up in November 2011 we booked it as a surprise engagement present for my Brother in Law and soon to be sis in law - they have just arrived back after being there this week - they have had a fabulous time!!!
Well worth the money if you want a taste of the good life and a certain class - if you wear three quarter trousers tee shirts and have tattoos then perhaps theres a butlins somewhere near!!!
Have a lovely timeXX:beer::beer::beer::beer:0
