Cheap calls to Italy "without" recorded message

Hi
Sorry if this has been asked before, but I have searched this site for a long time now and can’t find it.
I am self employed and I work in Italy for a few months each year.
The real problem.
When I am in the UK, if I’m out of the office, I transfer my calls to my mobile and everything is fine. But, when I work in Italy I have to transfer the calls to my UK mobile (as BT will not transfer to an Italian phone number). This means that each call (to me) is then transferred to my mobile at a REALLY expensive rates.
When I call Italy myself I use this number 0844 200 6565 – this gives a short message and then I dial the number. Again this works fine and is very cheap.
But....I cannot transfer my (UK) office number to this as there is always a message before you can enter the Italian number. (I have tried)
So. Is there a number that anyone knows of that I can dial (before my mobile UK or Italian) to get cheap calls to either y UK mobile in Italy or my Italian mobile, that will not have a recorded message in it.
This way I could transfer my office phones over to me when I’m in Italy and save LOTS – as the BT charges are killing me.
Thanks
Jane (just trying to earn a living)

The message is there to prompt for the destination number required. You cannot avoid this step, but as a divert it remains a very costly way to do so. You should consider switching to VOIP with a fall-back to landline, the kind of service Skype provides as it cuts the cord with BT and provides to with remote flexibility and cost savings. Similar services are available from other VOIP providers.

18185 has a recorded message detailing the cost per minute of the call after you dial the number. But you can disable that once you sign in and click on 'My Telephone Numbers'. Remove the tick from the 'Tariff Message' box, 'Save Changes' and you are there.

You cant divert a call to a indirect access code like 18185

LocalPhone will provide you with UK Access Numbers that point directly at the target numbers ( No Voice Announcement) that you can divert your office number to.

There are no contracts or monthly fees, and no connection or service charges with LocalPhone you just pay for calls.

You will still of course have to pay your mobile supplier for the diverted leg of the call to the mobile whilst roaming in Italy.

    See http://www.localphone.com/call/united_kingdom

Then there is the option of Localphone. Still cost effective at 1.2p per minute.

But 1.2p a minute is to a Italian Landline.

Try reading her post properly. ;) I part quote.

If her UK Mobile was being used in Italy she would be roaming.

Getting some facts right would be helpful.
  • Hi everyone thanks for your advice.

I have worked it out. Here is how I did - in case anyone else wants to know.

I contacted BT and put my mobile number on the Friends and Colleagues list - so I get free calls to from my office to my UK mobile phone
I contacted O2 and got the "Free" Europe roaming bolt on so I can receive call for free within Europe (still have to pay 25p per min to make calls though).

I have just got back from Italy. I got a number of long calls to my mobile (the clients actually called my office number which was then diverted)

I have just checked both BT and O2 bills - FREEEEEEE

    It worked.
