Does anyone know whether you are allowed more than one free test in a year? I last had them checked in February but they seem a bit worse to me

They do free eye tests in Tesco , not sure how they'd know if you already had one though. OH and I bought our last 2 lots of glasses there and its been quick and very efficient..#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

I had a certificate for free health costs for a while, I went for an eye test within a year of my last one and they said if there was no change I couldn't use the voucher for cost towards glasses but if there was a change I could. It may be the same thing for over 60s (although I don't pay for my eye tests anyway I'm guessing it would be the same principle?)0

You can have what's called a supplementary test if you feel that there's a change in your prescription. You need to fall into one of 8 categories before the optician can see you and if there is no change you could still be charged for the test. Also the patient has to be using their most up to date prescription so if you've lost your glasses and you're trying to get by with an old pair or if you were told that there's only a small change at your last test and decided to stick with what you had then you'd have to get a pair of glasses with the most recent prescription.
A lot of places will do a free eye test at any time of year as long as you buy from them so that might be an avenue to explore?0
