Ive just logged into my email account to find an email from Ebay saying my password has been changed-with a "contact us" link to use if I did not make this change...I didnt!
The link just takes me to ebays home page. What do I do to fix it?
ETA:After a browse around the site I have found this telephone number to call:0800 358 6552 is this right?I cant even send a message as I need to be logged in.

If you try to log in, your account will be hijacked. If you've already done it, you are going to have to ring ebay.0

Does the e-mail you received contain your name, if not its probably phishing for info
Have you tried going to the ebay homepage (don't use the e-mail link) and logging in?0 -

I agree it sound slike a phish.
OP you need to do what verity suggests and try logging in to ebay via your own 'safe' browser. If you truly are logged out then phone ebay and then go to the tech board to ask them about a thorough clean of your PCI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Thanks for the replies. Ive been on the phone for a few minutes to that phone number.Thankfully I know not to use links (hubbys in IT security) so went to Ebay in new window to find details.
When I phoned they had changed my email address and password. While Ive been on the phone to ebay the guy has watched them change my username and make a few small bids.0 -

Every single person that has posted a thread recently on here about being hacked has been 'in the IT industry'. I always put a note on the end of my posts 'and now wait for the OP to say they or their OH or their brother work in IT' and then I take it out as I feel mean.
I can only assume that us mere mortals panic more about security and that's why we keep ourselves safe, whereas people in the industry believe they can sort out any problems easily should they occur- so don't bother.
OP, regardless of what your OH does I would still ask on the techie board for advice as being hacked suggests a problem somewhere along the line. It might be an IT security issue- or it might even be a simple phish you've fallen for or an easily guessed password. This time you were lucky and have got it sorted quickly, other people haven't been so lucky and they have struggled for weeks to get straight. You really want to find out here what happened so you can stop it happening again.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Oh Soolin no thats not what I meant at all-all I knew better of was not to use the link....he's always yelling at me for not running the right scans and other stuff.Im not in the industry and wouldnt know the first thing about fixing firewalls and "cleaning my pc"...
As for being a mere mortal and not panicking-I did!And I came here to ask first...I didnt call DH...and yes,Ill be going to the techie board because I know that I have *some kind* of virus checker but I have no clue what it is or where to look for it on my pc.
I do a lot of comping and have recently installed some photo editing software and its possible that I "picked something up".Having a DH in IT isnt much use to me when it comes to the practical stuff-its like being married to a plumber and always having a blocked drain. My pc's the last one he looks after.0 -

It doesn't look like it is a spoof as OP has quite rightly spoken to ebay about itI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. OP still has a problem as either someone has guessed their password or there is something on your computer that needs to be sorted. Do you use online banking? If so you need to phone the banks to check all is well there (I wouldn't risk trying to log in) and urgently deal with your computer.0

I do use online banking-phoned to check alls well and used DH's pc to change passwords-I have posted on the techie board for help.0
