Hi,
I'm looking to find a plot of land to build a family home on with space for a bit of land for a veggie patch etc.
Anyway, does anyone have experience of Plotfinder or Plotsearch? They sound ideal, but I know most of the auctioneers and agents websites in my area and I'm just a little concerned that they will just be listing stuff I can find out already - like paying for sites that list property auctions.

They do list quite a lot of sites that are being sold privately, although these are probably advertised elsewhere too. The lifetime joining fee is not that much so it could be a good investment to be sure you cover all possibilities.0

My husband and I would love to build our own house so we've recently visited the Home Building & Renovating show to do some initial research.
Finding a plot seems to be the trickiest part of a self-build project.
Experts at the show recommended establishing excellent relationships with a few of your local estate agents and indeed subscribing onto Plotfinder/Plotsearch. Before you do subscribe, you may want to check out a sample of the range of land they offer on the back pages of BuildIt magazine.
It was also suggested to keep an open mind: estate agents may advertise a bungalow on a generous plot in a nice area as requiring modernisation, but they don't mention that the dwelling could actually be just knocked down and the land is perfect for someone brave to build a house on.
