gaming headset wont work

Hi,
I have got a headset for gaming and talking on messenger but I can hear myself, but when I connect to someone the whole PC freezes. I think it maybe windows firewall but I have no idea how to configure it for the headset.
Any help appreciated thanks Jen

is it usb or plug in to the round coloured things in the back where the speakers plug in tothere or their,one day i might us the right one ,until then tuff0
