I just need to moan I think.
We were expecting to exchange contracts last week but found out there was another link in the chain that wasn't ready and were told it should be today and now it looks like we won't move until 15 February.
We originally saw the house we are buying in August and put an offer in the first week of September. Lots of things have gone wrong along the way the person above had to change the house she was buying twice (once due to serches and once due to gazumping) and we have had problems with a covenant in the deeds.
I guess alot of the problems are down to the long chain there are 7 of us in it and we are right in the middle. Someone below us has said if it has not completed by the 26th Jan he is pulling out, so there is a distinct possibility that the whole thing will fall apart unless the chain can be broken just below us.
I was quite relaxed about it all and thought it will happen when it will happen, but I have got today off and there are people opposite moving and it seems like they only put their house on the market 3 weeks ago.
Anyone else seem like they have been waiting to move forever?
Cathy

I am now on day 246 of selling my house.
It is a long story.
I will not bore you with the details yet...0 -
I purchased a vacant 1 bed flat which took 13 months!! (management co. issues)
Mind you, it was an investment property, and at the time, property prices were rising rapidly. I purchased at the original price and gained 10K equity by the time purchase completed, with no expense on my side...nice.0 -
It's not quite as bad as it could be then, that's good to know. Thanks0

When we brought our flat we offered in Jan and didn't complete till the end of July and there was no one else in the chain (vendor was an elderly lady).
Hang in there what is meant to be will beHouse purchase completed 6th December whole process took 4 months.

Gosh...you've hardly started......!
Our house was on the market for approximately 16 months before we accepted an offer that has proceeded to exchange (last month). Many hiccups on the way (sales falling through/being withdrawn) but we finally got there in the end at the price we wanted and to a "real" cash buyer too.
We too will be "cashed up" at completion and are now looking forward to negotiating a puchase from a position of strength!
One thing I would avoid is chopping and changing agents or appointing too many....any buyer who has done his/her homework will pick that up.
Keep faith...and good luck!!

I bought my flat in 05, put the holding deposit in end April- moved in end october
I accepoted an offer to sell in October to a "cash buyer" who wasnt at all, and exchanged on thursday, which is probably not that bad, but it was blooody stressful . Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
