Disability living allowance is a benefit that is intended to help with any extra costs due to extra care and mobility needs you may have.
It's for under 65s, though you can carry on claiming it once you're over that age.
If you have difficulty walking short distances without 'severe pain or discomfort' - for any reason, or need assistance from others outdoors to guide you, apply now!
This is as the benefit that you would get when over 65 - Attendance allowance - does not have any mobility elements.
In general, income from DLA does not affect other benefits.

I wonder how/if this will change when PIP comes in?0

I wonder how/if this will change when PIP comes in?
Good question - however, if you're entitled now, you're entitled now, and are not going to be in a worse position transitioning from DLA->PIP than putting in a fresh claim for PIP.
(especially considering a couple of years of payments till the changes).0 -
' rogerblack ' is right, as with a Blue Badge or even Warm Front or WHD schemes get going now. I've no idea of the current figures are but about £16 billion last year and about £8 billion this year of Disability Benefits go unclaimed, as in not even claimed when people have a right. One thing as sure as ducks quack .. .. it'll be a sight harder to jump the hoops next year.Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. I try to be an even-handed poster and accept that you at times may not agree with these opinions or how I choose to express them, this is not my problem.
