January and July in the first year and October January and July for the second year. You don't usually get letters, it just appears in your bank account but that depends on where you study. The bonuses are due form our college this week :)

to get the bonus at our college you have to be up to date on your work (the tutor has to verify this) and to have been paid two weeks ema in January. So in other words you have to be present since college/school returned in January or have an authorised note for absence.
  • My daughter applied for EMA in September and was accepted.

But, due to ilness at the beginning of the September, she had to miss some school. Because her average attendance dropped below what the school consider appropriate, she hasn't received a penny in EMA (even though she's not behind on her work or anything).

:( because it took me weeks to get the paperwork accepted because of one problem and another.

uniqueearthling, your daughter should be getting ema because it is weekly based on attendance and as long as your daughter attends a full week she should get that weeks ema. There are allowances that can be made for genuine sickness.
It can be back dated but only for a certian amount of weeks, i would phone the ema 080 810 16219 and explain your circumstances and ask them for advice. I think the school are at fault here, it is not up to them to judge.

Thank you so much for that advice. I'll phone them up on Monday and see what they say.
  • Has anyone recieved EMA bonus yet.

Do you think I should ask to be on the safe side, they might of forgotten to process my bonus or something.
