Hi folks
I am looking to get my 2 kids (aged 7 +10)away on half term break from 22 october till 29/30th,I was hoping to pick up a late deal this week or next, can anyone tell me if it would be warm enough for them to use outdoor pools in Portugal as I have just spotted a nice hotel offer staying here (Pinhal do Sol Hotel) or maybe recommend a good family resort in Turkey,I am keeping all options open including Scotland and the lakes in a hired vintage vw camper btw from here (camperbug.co.uk).
Any ideas or suggestions feel free to post what you'll be doing half term as it may help me make my mind up:)
Happy holidays

We've been away in the Oct half term loads of times, not to Portugal but places like Greece, Majorca, Minorca, southern Spain, and generally it's been fine - in fact the sea has always been reasonably warm, probably warmer than early summer as it's had all summer to heat up. Pools did tend to be cold though, not that that put us off using them!
Tip if you live in the north - consider flying from Scotland as it's not half term up there. We've had some cracking deals - even with a hotel at Glasgow airport and petrol/parking costs we saved at least £500 every time we did it and generally got better flight times than if we'd have gone from Manchester.0 -
we are going to marmaris this saturday till 29th staying at club nergis beach apparently hoping it is good for kids x0

Here it's the first week of the holidays so there could well be a good deal from Scottish airports then.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

You asked about Turkey, I can't recommend a resort but I know that these dates are very near or even the end of the season, the weather can change quite fast- the temps drop and suddenly all the businesses shut up shop. I am pretty sure it was the end of October and we felt as if we were going to be shut away with the beach loungers- it was very weird to see previously busy town centre looking somewhat deserted!
Well I could recommend a resort- it was Dalyan, a really delightful Turkish village on the river, go on a boat to the beach where turtles lay their eggs. Not sure how family friendly it would be though. Half hour transfer from DalamanBeing polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!
