Vent: QuidCo won't pay up cashback...

Hi,

My other half opened a Halifax bank account through Cashback back in May which didn't track (£50 cashback).

Today they rejected her claim because "they can't trace an order from the information you provided". If they couldn't trace the order then why didn't they ask for the bank account number or sort code of the account? That would clearly show it was opened, the date etc.

She uses the Halifax account as her main one and is upset that she will not be getting her £50 cashback.

TopCashBack wasn't doing Halifax cashback at the time.

Why oh why does QuidCo keep insisting on not paying out, or even asking for further information. It infuriates me and my other half is understandably upset that QuidCo are refusing to pay out the £50 she is owed.

We guarantee to give you 100% of the cashback that you earn. However, we cannot guarantee that the retailer will pay us for every purchase. This only happens in a handful of cases - currently 99.86% of all purchases receive the cashback without issue.

The reasons why a retailer could decline your cashback are:
    • The purchase was returned, cancelled or the order amended
    • The purchase was not completed wholly online
    • Another referrer has been awarded the cashback commission (e.g. a price comparison site)
    • You did not comply with the terms and conditions of Quidco and/or the retailer.
    • A voucher code or gift code not authorised by Quidco was used
    • The retailer has ceased trading or has gone into administration

Generally, sticking to the terms and conditions provided in the retailer description and ensuring you follow the recommended process will minimise the risk of anything going wrong.

that's the thing to remember with cashback websites, they'e not guaranteed. keep trying them, but it looks like you're not going to get the money

I guess Quidco aren't disputing that she has a Halifax bank account, or even that she opened it at the correct time, just that the cookies tracked her opening it through their website.

I'm pretty sure it explains on the website that some things don't track - irritating, but it seems to happen all the time to me. Did your OH clear her cookies before beginning the transaction?

Have you followed the Quidco complaints procedure? It might not bear fruit, but equally they might pay it to keep you happy.
