Advice on business electricity costs
Options
Hi, I am new to this so hope this is the right forum!
The business I work for are relocating to a new office and I have been asked to find out how much the electricity will cost so we can budget. The heating in our new office is included in the rent.
The office is about 420 square foot and we have 5 computers, 2 printers, a fax and possibly a photocopier. The kitchen has in a fridge, microwave and kettle and there is strip lighting in the office.
All appliances are switched off overnight apart from fridge.
Does anyone work in a similar office and know approx. costs per month or year? I have looked everywhere on the internet but no joy.

I have no experience of office use myself, but to give you a start, you can calculate the cost of any appliances here: http://www.ukpower.co.uk/running-costs-elec.asp
Strip lights are usually between 50-80 watts, although I'm not sure about the amp rating.
As a commercial customer the business should be able to negociate with the various suppliers for a cheap deal.
Hopefully someone may come along and give you better information, but if not that should give you something to work with0 -
As a very rough estimate, I'd say 30 units a day, which would be approx 11,000 per year, which depending on what tariff you are on would be approx £80 per month.
If you use less than 33 units per day as a business customer the electricity should be charged at 5% VAT, if you use more than that it will be 17.5% VAT.Indecision is the key to flexibility0
