The fujitsu posted by ChrisPNE looks good for Uni work. May need to factor in cost of Office if you don't allready have it, roughly £50 with NUS card, or use libreoffice formally know as Openoffice, which is free. Possibly a small external hard drive to back up all the course work.Mansion TV. Avoid at all cost's :j0

I'd recommend this Asus (good brand) from eBuyer - http://www.ebuyer.com/267479-asus-k52f-laptop-k52f-ex635v and Office Pro for under £40 http://www.software4students.co.uk/Microsoft_Office_2010_Professional_Plus-details.aspx
For £349.98 you get:
Intel Core i3-370 2.4GHz
3GB RAM
320GB HDD
15.6" HD,Webcam
DVD Writer
Free Webroot Internet Security + Carry Case
Windows 7 Home Premium 64
For backups don't bother with hard drives go for cloud storage and use Carbonite which offers unlimited stoage for £ 41.95 p/a.
The Fujitsu would suit you fine too.0 -
If you are using it for the things you said then you've no need to spend £500 on a laptop. Just find the cheapest laptop you can as you have such basic needs. Don't listen to the idiots in PC World, they'll tell you anything to sell you stuff.
Something along these lines will suit you fine.
