retrospective gas bill charges

EON actually refunded my account two years ago as due to some error I had overpaid. Today I have received a bill for £4k as apparently the meter was registering imperial not metric.This has been taken back to 5 years ago. The tenants in this house have changed several times over the years but always paid in full money requested from the gas company. Can this payment be enforced?

Just a couple of questions here.

Is the account in your name for the property? or is the property let out to tenants, so is the bill in their name?

To be honest cases like this are looked at on an individual basis and may require to go through the billing code of practice if this applies.

It all depends on specific circumstances of the individual account.

Have you spoken to E.ON about the bill?
