Hello!
I have sent you a private message - may be able to help. Please do get in touch.

Sorry for the late reply - sadly my limited dealings with TS services in London have not left me with a particularly good impression of them/their abilities.
Someone above said that if you call Consumer Direct the query will automatically be passed to your local TS service - this isn't true. Some cases they will send as criminal referrals, some as civil referrals (if your local TS has a civil advice service) and others are just sent as a 'notification' - which generally means it disappears into a black hole, never to be seen again.
And please please please be weary of Ricochet11's offer of assistance. I don't know who this poster is and neither do you. They could be anyone and knowing that you've been conned once they may think you're an easy target to be conned again. It often happens that someone who was a victim of a con will be targeted by multiple scammers trying to cash in. Be very careful!Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!1 -
They came back and did three (short) days. Havent seen them now for 6 days - now asking me for more money which I refused, or he'd never come back again. I've paid for 3/4 of job. He says he cant come yet as he has to do other jobs to get the money to pay for the materials needed for my roof. I've paid him thousands!!!
(
Does any roofer on here know roughly what is costs for materials for a townhouse with back addition in 'Eternit tiles'. (tiles battons, guttering and plastic soffits only).
Also they've totally ruined my insulation. It's covered in dust and rubble and level has dropped 3-4 inches due to weight of the debris. Surely they should cover up insulation with tarpaulin? Anyone could see if had been recently done.
They are a nightmare!!!!!!!!
Thank you everyone for responses so far. PS No idea how to get to private messages yet as I'm new.0 -

All reputable tradesmen have credit accounts with builders merchants so they don't need money up front. If they finish a job within 30 days and you pay them immediately they have a positive cash flow. As a general rule any tradesman who asks for payment in advance is dishonest.0

very sorry to read of your problems, how are you getting on?
i would definately contact cowboy builders, if you get on the show, not only will you get your roof fixed they will make him pulbic discouraging others from using him.
i would call his bluff and say that someone from the production team is coming to film the damage for the TV programme and only fixing the problem immediately will save his reputation.
yes a blatant lie, but it may call his bluff.0 -
WonderingWhy - you can check your private messages by clicking on the bit that says 'Private Messages (PMs)' just above the 'Conned by Roofers' title. That will bring you to the relevant page.
Good luck.0
