when you call structural engineers to come out, and have a look at your property, for advice,...

Do there have a call out fee? or they can come for free, to advice what types of reports you need?

Edited-
For checking Cracks in our wall, which are foundation/structural issues most likley caused by Tree roots.

but i know a survey Report would cost £200-£300+ but when they come out, to see what they advise etc, would they charge for a call out charge? as first we would need to see What sort of report is needed.

I know they have £300+ survey report charges... but is that on First meeting?

or they can come out for Free, to assess... and tell what the next step is ??

  • Depends.

Whats it for? Do you have a problem, is it an extension?

Usually there is a charge, but if they do work they may waiver it.

If you are wanting something to show an insurance company, there will be a charge. Most SE's would probably chat about it over the phone before coming out and not charge for that (I would and do), but your best bet is to go to the IStructE website and find an engineer in your area with subsidence expertise. Phone them and ask them what they can do for you and how they would proceed and what charges there might be. Call a couple and see what answers you get.
