Someone using our address for credit

  • We checked the Electoral role and he is definitely not on it.

How did you check this out?
I'm not sure if you are aware of it, but there are actually two different versions of the electoral register, the full version and an edited one which anyone can opt out of appearing in.

It is the full version that you really need to check to ensure that your partners ex is not registered at the address. This version of the register can be viewed by anyone and is normally available at your local council offices.
The distribution of this register is limited to certain companies, normally those relating to crime prevention/solving or credit reference agancies.

Anyone can buy a copy of the edited register, and it is this one that is normally used by search companies, marketing firms etc and it's possible that the person concerned has chosen not to be listed in this.

Drew, did you know that it is an offence to have a driving license registered to an address that you no longer live at ?.

Also, bit strange about the passport, they now deliver by secure courier and will only hand it over to the person named on it. My son and spouse both got passports 18 months ago and because he was at college, we had to go to th Passport office to collect it.
    Never Knowingly Understood.

We contacted the Electoral Role Officer in our Council. They were very helpful, but assured us that he was not on it

Yeah, I did thanks. But as I said in my opening post, authorities seem to not give a rats backside about things like this. Ever tried calling the DVLA to inform them about things like that.....you get an endless stream of drivel telling you that this can all be found on the internet ...before you get to talk to someone who clearly reads it from a script or again cant give a rats doodah...Sorry if I sound cynical, just fed up tonight really:mad:

I would just return everything to sender "ADDRESSEE UNKNOWN"

What ever credit they take out would not effect you in anyway.

You could place a notice in the newspaper to the effect that******** is not a resident of the address ****** and notice is Herby served that creditors of Mr **** ****** should desist from causing distress to the occupants of ******* ***** who have been in residence ***** months and have no connection to ****** ******.
That any credit agreements or official documentation taken out by Mr ******* using the address ********** *** is done without consent of the present occupiers.

Photocopy the page or buy copies with dates on and send it to any creditors and serve it upon any bailiffs or debt collectors, read it in full to any telephone callers stating I will read and serve upon you a legal notice place in the *** paper on date.

I am guessing you are connected to the legal profession maybe?
Because that sounds pretty good, and I will think about using that.

ACTUALLY!.... that's exactly how he got his passport. He had the courier deliver it as they do, the guy came here and posted it through the letterbox, as we were out the back and couldn't get to the door, other wise I was going to tell them he doesn't live here!

    WELL!
Just got access to her experian report. There are TWO associations with him on there, and the little S**T has had over 11 credit searches associated with my ladies name in the past 12 months. Suffice to say she is  as hell (worse than the monthly week!)

What's made her into a fury filled tornado, is that there were credit or loans taken out in his name, linked to her, when they were still married, ....but she knows nothing about them, and he is denying it all. There comes a time in a blokes life you ..just gotta learn to say yeahhh...it was me..(in kicks the quiet life mode :o )
I am thinking of buying the bloke a spade as digging his own grave looks likely if she ever gets her hands on him.

Now, Equifax was easy to get his name disassociated. Experian doesn't seem as simple but we will work on it. She's talking contracts and hit men (JOKE) I am thinking more solicitors.

According to Experian this association with him/her, can adversely affect her credit rating, so its not making her chuffed in the least.

There was one credit search in her name though.
She had tried for a store card sometime earlier this year, however that's the only one she can remember, but the search was for Santander credit card. She told me that she never tried this with them. Could the store in question be linked with this search and Santander ?

The best news of today is...thanks to 192.com we have managed to pin down his 'new' address. We are waiting for a few months for some things to take place before we talk to royal mail and get his redirect blocked, then we are going to let every letter, baliff and creditor know exactly where he lives.:T
