Article states that this brings a 'market wide' end to this practice! Aren't Eon and npower still door step selling? More quality MSE writing!
  • Yes thanks Martin Lewis.

Due to your unhealthy obsession with door-to-door selling (aka why not use this site to switch and make me wealthy), I have been made redundant.

    I hope you rot.

    What utter nonsense.

Field sales have been told that it is likely that approximately 50% will be made redundant. Employees have the opportunity to redeploy elsewhere in the business. This whole scenario has nothing to do with Martin Lewis.

    Sheesh

My sympathy is 100% with the people who are hounded by unscrupulous door-to-door salespeople.

I might have saved 1% of sympathy for you, but the nasty tone of your post saved me the bother.
  • Whats with the hostility. Yes he makes money from this site so do most professional site including many amateur. No one forces you to switch and he does make it clear when its a referral link

    Sorry you lost your job

Sadly, I suspect "prior agreement" may be easy to establish, e.g. with some lonely elderly people.

"Prior agreement" may be why I saw loads of meter fitters being trained in energy sales recently..
    Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently! ;)

Shouldn't the ex-salesmen be trained in meter fitting instead?
The 50% that are not made redundant?

I assume the other 50% are beyond redemption.

Poor tormented creatures who have been psychlogically altered to exploit the weak and vulnerable without mercy and scruples: they cannot be trusted even to fit meters. How can we allow these feral demons to wander our streets. As night falls, their banshee like wails at their betrayal chilling to the bone. As they grow hungry from lack of sales commission, they will prowl in alleyways and pounce from the dark, and we find remains of OAPs gnawed and chewed by compulsion of what they were trained to do.

Destroy them, for pity's sake. May God have mercy on their souls.

I`ll answer the first part of your post where you sounded vaguely plausible.

Fitting Smart meters is one of the jobs which the employees can apply for. One of the other options is to train and become one of the sales reps who will visit customers in their own homes on an appointment only basis to advise on all of the products such as CWLI, solar, central heating installs etc, energy supply etc.

The truth is a lot of the good reps aren`t interested in the jobs on offer as the OTE is between 30 and 32k including the basic salary. Good reps with BG earn more than double that just now.

I know salesmen don't want to do real work for a living.

The communists tried sending people into collective farms to re-educate them into the virtue of honest labour, but everyone on the farm just want to drive BMWs.
