What's the point in posting if the thread is going to be deleted?

I've just discovered a thread that I posted on had been completely deleted. There were a couple of pages of comments - none of which broke any forum rules (as far as I can tell) discussing the legitimacy of violence in protests. A sensitive subject, perhaps, but one that was being discussed in a perfectly legitimate mature fashion. It was certainly less heated than the debate on the legalisation of gay marriage.
Maybe I did not see a subsequently defamatory/abusive/offensive post, but that's no reason to delete the entire thread.
I often wonder whether posting on web forums is a waste of time, but if our posts are going to be arbitrarily deleted, then it's really quite clear.

Ah well, that'll teach me to waste time on a forum like this then! I won't bother in future.0

To answer your question, if it's the thread I think you are referring to, the thread starter was an AE of a banned member who had broken our Rules and T&Cs by creating a new account.
Thus, the account was stopped and all threads and posts from that account were removed.
Unfortunately this included your posts.

Oh, I see. I suppose that's at least partly understandable, although it's a bit unfair for action taken against the OP to affect legitimate posters. Thanks for the reply, anyway.0

There are several protester supporters on dt, regardless of the nature of the protest - peaceful, riotous or violent. And they like to talk about it so much that the topic is always on a merry go round. Even if they fail to address it, we could always put a twist
to it, put forward a view and march to the beat of our own drum.
