Why do you leave the PC on overnight? Is is actively doing something? What power options do you have configured? Is is going in to sleep or hibernation mode? As it works after a reboot, I doubt that the monitor is faulty.

    Ditto.

Check the power settings for the monitor. Possibly set to turn off after "X" minutes.

Why DO you leave your PC on overnight?
  • Downloading stuff mainly! However i did read that its more economical to leave your pc running rather than switching it on and off all the time....thanks for your advice

That's not true at all. There are power spikes when switching on any piece of electrical equipment but they are instantaneous and the total energy in those spikes is negligible. I think you'll find that leaving a pc on overnight is far more costly than switching your computer on and off (even excessively).

To say nothing of the fact it's using electricity, thus creating CO2 emmissions and ............................ costing you money.
