Tesco Loan PPI declined - any advice please

Hi,

just had a conversation with Tesco bank about my ppi complaint. The adviser has told me this has gone to quality control for checking - anybody got any ideas if this means it has been upheld? The adviser could not tell me any more about it at this time apparently.

    Hi

Wishing you luck and hopefully that does mean they have calculated and this is being checked through, although don't quote on me, but that is what it does sound like, good luck x;)

  • yeah i hope so - this is the second time i have logged it as the first time they replied to say i had ppi (yeah thanks for that i know that now! lol) and if i wanted to make a claim for the time i was redundant last year i could do so. They missed the point i was claiming about the missell rather than wanting to make a claim. I also have some arrears on the loan from when i went on a payment plan (whilst redundant) so hoping its upheld to clear those. Part of the missell was i told them i was redundant and they never offered the option of a claim on the ppi - they just offered the option of the payment plan instead!
  • well had a reply back from Tesco bank today declining my claim saying as it was an internet application i chose the PPI and also becuase they sent me the policy documentation i had time to review the information and the fact that the PPI fees were on there. It does state the fees looking back on the documentation but i dont feel it was fully explained that interest was attritutable to the front loaded PPI as well.

One other issue i also complained about was that i was made redundant for 6 months last year and informed Tesco about this as i was on a payment plan and this was extended whilst unemployed. Not once did one of their advisers suggest claiming on the PPI (i had forgotten was even applicable for this loan at the time as i was concentrating on getting a new job!) The PPI refusal letter say they cannot comment about this "allegation" but to speak to the insurance company about it - not even sure who "the insurance company" are for starters.

Anyone have any advice about what to do next? The letter says it concludes his investigation and i can contact the FOS but it doesnt say its their final response. Should i respond to Tesco by email (if email anyone know one for the PPI team?) or is it best by letter? Or should i put it through to the FOS now? Suggestions gratefully accepted!

    Hi there

In my own opinion I think you should write to them again, ask them to reconsider and let you know by 14 days.

Tell them you believe they have overlooked your reasons and want this reviewed, tell them as well you are not happy with not even being told to you could have made a claim when you could have done with this at the time, and if you had known about it then obviously you would have made a claim automatically and not contacted Tesco directly for help.

I would tell them that its not the insurers responsibility when you made a query a year ago to Tesco, why did they not mention the PPI to you, tell them it would not be the insurers responsibility for selling the policy directly to you.
I would also tell them, that the staff should have then given details of the insurer to make a claim on the ppi, but obviously this was not mentioned, because for one "I did not even know iI had PPI and secondly the staff could not have been that experienced of these products because he or she did not even mention it", on asking for help.

Tell them you are making a genuine complaint and want to reclaim all you paid of the PPI, plus interest, and as a valued customer will appreciate they take your reasons into consideration and let you know by 14 days, or you will consider taking further action with your evidence to support your complaint.

As it was an online application, it was probably one that you had to opt out of, so possibly pre-ticked, in this case this can be accidentally missed and assumed it part of the package, it may not have been made clear. If you think this applies to you, do tell them that.
Also state, if they're unable to change the decision in your favour to provide the written evidence of your account and to why they rejected your complaint.

However, if you hear nothing back in the above requested time, complain to the FOS, and the same if you hear but they do not change the decision in your favour, good luck.;)
