Yahoo mail: how to undo the "upgrade"?

I have used the classic form of Yahoo mail for years, and it works well for me.

Recently it was upgraded, and I hate everything about the new interface. There seems to be a lot of Flash-based functionality, and so things go wrong. I just want to get back to the old version: any idea how to do so?

However, if you do not want to upgrade, please click here to use Yahoo! Mail Classic.

Not sure if it retains it for when you next log in though, maybe if after opening the classic window you could close the upgraded version and then log out from the classic window
  • Hi

I think it will let you go back to the old mail by using the above advice however they will be changing everyone across to the new interface at the end of this month i believe.

I dont like the new interface either and would much rather keep the old interface but i think yahoo will not budge on the decison on changing it

I thought they'd already done so? I was given no option but to switch to the new interface when I logged on a week or two ago.

yeah, i think they've just gone and done it! I was always forced to use the classic mail as the only time i logged into it was from my netbook which didn't have enough screen area! wonder what will happen now...

  • Don't believe the hype - they can't FORCE you; they are just going to spam you with the upgrade screen until the end of the month. After that they will give up on those of us who don't want to upgrade (as the upgrade yahoo mail crashes my browser, in my case).

If you have switched and want to go back, it is trickier. I have a link but apparently I'm not allowed to post it as I'm a new user. Sigh.
  • Let's see if this works.

    mrd.mail.yahoo.com/switchclassic

Do that from inside Yahoo Mail.

The upgraded Yahoo Mail crashes my Mac and works very slowly on my PC. Very, very annoying.

I haven't found a way to go back after pressing 'yes' to upgrade by mistake a little while ago.

Well I found myself faced with a splash screen that ONLY had an 'upgrade' button.
