Redundancy and notice period pay

Hope someone can help. I've just been put into a consultation period for redundancy, although I think this is just a legal formality and my job will definitely be made redundant.
Been searching online for clear explanation of payments but can't find anything that really spells it out.
So, I've worked for the company for four years, full time, so understand I will be entitled to statutory redundancy pay.
However, my normal contractual notice period ie if I got another job and wanted to leave, is three months.
So, will I be entitled to statutory redundancy pay AND my three months notice, or does the statutory bit cancel out the notice period?
If just statutory then I'm entitled to four weeks pay, but if that AND notice period payment, then it's effectively four months salary, so is a huge difference!

you should get 4 weeks redundancy tax free and depending of your age if your over 41 you get 1.5 x your weekly wage
(£400 from 1 February 2011) is the current maximum weekly pay (before tax) when calculating statutory redundancy entitlement.
i would say but i may be wrong you should get 12 weeks pay (taxed) if you have to give 12 weeks notice to leave,If in any doubt ring ACAS or CAB for advise

Are you close to 5 years service?
For statutory notice the date of notice used.
Your notice will be your contractual notice.
If you work(or garden leave) your notice then the termination date is used for the redundancy service.
If you don't(say get PILON) then the date is the latter of termination date or the date that statutory would have taken you to.
As said above statutory reduncacy is based on 1 week pay per years service and capped at £400 with age adjustments for service oer 41.0 -
I reached four years service in September.
Id be very surprised if I'm expected to work my three months notice period, so if they pay me instead, is that what PILON means?
Staff handbook says they pay statutory redundancy, but doesn't mention whether that is in addition to your contractural notice period.
That's why I'm confused - the thought of only four weeks pay is terrifying but if I'd be paid the three months notice too then it seems a less scary time frame to be job hunting in.0 -
You've said that if you want to leave you have to give three months notice - that doesn't necessarily mean the employer has to give you three months notice. Have you checked your contract in that respect?0

I have my letter from when I completed my six month probation, which states my salary and then says: ....and your period of notice will increase to three months on either side.
So presume that means they have to give me three months too?0 -
