Tesco CLOSING

Bradfo*d Hor*ton Rd just shut for one week for refurb. There were fights for all the veg (only loose stuff) being reduced. I got some Brocolli and some apples.
They had trollys (metal tall things not shopping ones) ready with all local store names on for shipping fresh produce too.I am firmly across the line. I won't impose my values on you if you keep away from mine.

I too prefer the prescot one as the clothes range is bigger but on some occasions, the st helens one is great, when the big sales are on the clothes there is never anyone in the st helens one whereas the prescot is chokka. I agree about the st helens one, I had to argue on sat over a finest meal deal that charged me double aargh!
Thanks for the heads up but I will probably miss out as usual plus probably can't park there as I can never get a space

who remembers when it was safeways, and you used to get a ticket when you went in, and had to get it stamped on the way out.....................too many people in st helens one, just parking for town.
i find some of the st helens staff ok, had 2 big dtd's last week, both refunded without a problem,
haydock, only been a few times (cause daughter lives in blackbrook) got a massive dtd on phones last week, sa was ok
prescott, i like it cause it is so big, i now know the guys upstairs on electrical, my 1st word to them is any bargains.......lol and i got a new mobile phone from them on saturday, and was struggling to use it, each time i go in, i ask a member of the phone team what to do, there real nice.
On dtd, the sa in st helens said that when they move to the new store, they will be on the ball and there will be no, dtd, i'll believe that when i see it.

The film?
Re Tesco, I think it says on the Saints website that the opening day for Tesco by the Stadium is 31st October but check as my memory isn't what it was!

KES - Kid Eating Snake, a tubular climbing frame in the Hardshaw Centre (not the film Sophieschoice :rotfl:).
And yes, I remember when Tesco was Safeway. In fact, I remember Safeway opening.
Just in case anybody thinks I'm showing my age, KES was around when my daughter was little (now age 20 ) and safeway opened after her birth - we used to go to Kwik save in Ormskirk Street before that.
Still reminiscing - Tesco Metro at Four Acre. Anybody remember when it was Mac market? (about 30 years ago - and yes, I'm showing my age now :rotfl:)0 -
I'm just worried about what will happen to the old Tesco site - don't want another boarded up monstrosity in the town centre, but in the current climate, what retailer would want to move in?
I'm hoping for a Sainsbury's as there really isn't one for miles around, but perhaps it's a bit 'upmarket' for St Helens?
I'd have thought Wilko might have been interested but their store in town has just had a makeover.0 -
Sainsbury's isn't 'upmarket' at all these days and would be perfect for St. Helens but I wouldn't put it on the site currently occupied by Tesco.
I moved away years ago but still go back regularly. If a Sainsbury's opened I think I'd be tempted to move back!
And as for remembering Mac Market, it turned into Gateway I think.
I'm old enough to remember Whelan's on Baxters Lane and Krazy Kuts on Boundary Road too.
Now I feel ancient!0 -
After Mac Market it was International I think14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140
