Damage to property btw exchange and completion?

Hi everyone
We exchanged on our sale/purchase yesterday with completion happening on 26th Jan (for our sale only we are buying a new build so will complete approx 12 weeks)
In the strong winds today 5 of our fence panels have smashed and the garage roof flew of as well as a chimney pot smashing. What should we do. As we were pushed to agree to completion on 26th (we have to move or family of 4, 2 babies aged 20mths and6mths in with my mum and family whilst waiting for our house to be complete) we do not have time to fix these problems and get everything packed into storage.
I am at my wits end now and wish I had never agreed to complete so soon due to our situation. We are stll paying for insurance on this property but will that still cover us after 26th if it takes that long to sort? Are we covered for "acts of God"?
Can anyone please advise?
Regards
Charlotte

Suggest you speak to your solicitor. My feeling is that the new owners insurance should cover it. But if your's still covers it to then the two insurance companies can argue over who pays. It probably won't be sorted before completion and your buyers may not be too happy but as they say "doggy dirt happens!"
Just a tip, you are insured for a period of time. If an incident happens at 1 second to your insurance expiring your insurance company will still have to pay for the damage to be repaired.
I once told my insurance company I wasn't renewing with them (about 2 weeks before the end of the policy). 2 days before the end of the policy I cycled into a parked car and caused £200 of damage. I then phoned the company a couple of weeks after my policy had expired and put my claim in.0
