New Boiler installation questions - B Gas
Hi
I'm interested in getting a new boiler from B. Gas but just wondering what work they would do and what they would include in the main price.
Here is my story.
House is new build. Plumbers appear to have been dodgy. Builder doesn't care.
I have no corgi certificate
Many many problems with my central heating. Valliant refuse to help since I have no corgi certificate so my warranty is worthless.
Some of the problems I seem to have from the various plumbers who had a look at my system:
System needs to be power flushed. Boilers pump broke three times as a result of sediment.
Two radiators refuse to heat up fully.
Pressure constantly dropping over time so we have to top it up once a month.
Every so often loud clanging and vibrations from boiler so have to switch it off when it happens.
Boiler switches off and then on every half a minute. Plumber said its because the water is not flowing quickly away from the boiler so it detects the hot water, switches off, then resumes once its detects colder water. He indicated its because the pipes from the boiler are too narrow.
Finally have several new pipes going from boiler downstairs to the big tank and things upstairs (megaflo i think). However they are all outside the house and from all the various repairs i've had.
Lastly, my boiler no longer works at all anymore. Pressure is at 0.4, topping it up bring it up to the correct level then it drops to 0.4 in a minute.
Now my question is.
If I get british gas to install a brand new boiler, would they power flush my system.
Would they replace any piping going from my boiler to the loft that are incorrect? If yes, would they put the piping in my walls rather than going up the walls from outside?
How many of the issues I listed above be solved by a new boiler installation?
Finally if they will sort out my central heating and hot water system for good. Would this all be in one fixed price or would they charge for every fault they find?
Thank-you for reading.

I've reported this for moving to the DIY forum - you should get a better response there. Is it only British Gas you've had look at your system? British Gas engineers are normally on commission, and will prey on you if you look likely to go for a full new system. They also tend to charge a lot more than independents - don't fall for their limited time sales, they're like kitchen sales, they always have some cut price offer or "grant" to offer...0

Thank you for moving it to the correct forum.
Was not sure which one it belonged in
No the people who had a look at my system were all from the builder of my home.
And they did various repairs to fix it.
Now my builder has stopped sending people around and the system just seems to get worse and worse
I was looking at british gas since they are a big company and I thought if anything goes wrong afterwards I have someone I can chase to fix it.
I'm worried about independent people since they could just be like my builder. (I.e. take my money, run away and leave it in a bigger mess)0 -
How old is the boiler? Small claims court action against the builder is surely your best option?
Then get a local independent Vaillant-savvy RGI to quote to fix it.
You will pay about 40% extra by using BG.
You won't get a CORGI certificate-it has been obsolete for about 2 years now. The new standard is GSR.No free lunch, and no free laptop

They will include anything you want doing. Question is: why on earth would you want BG to do it when they have a reputation for being neither particularly good, nor particularly cheap.I'm interested in getting a new boiler from B. There is no such thing as a corgi certificate.I have no corgi certificate
It needs cleaning but not necessarily a powerflush. If you insist, BG would be happy to add it to the bill at around an extra £800 ( which may or may not be broken down to disguise it )System needs to be power flushed. Boilers pump broke three times as a result of sediment.
You have a leak.Pressure constantly dropping over time so we have to top it up once a month.
Probably lack of flow.Every so often loud clanging and vibrations from boiler so have to switch it off when it happens.

Yes, if you want, at considerable cost though. Now my question is.
If I get british gas to install a brand new boiler, would they power flush my system.
I doubt it.Would they replace any piping going from my boiler to the loft that are incorrect?
Only time will tell. One thing is for sure though, either way they will charge you an arm and a leg in the end. Finally if they will sort out my central heating and hot water system for good. Would this all be in one fixed price or would they charge for every fault they find?0 -
The only person responsible for the faults is the builder. Why would you want to fit a new boiler and pay for it yourself? Enforce your rights.
What about your NHBC cover as it's a new build? No free lunch, and no free laptop
