Slowest Train Journey

I arrived at Kings Cross at 12:15 this afteroon and saw that there was a fast train to Stevenage leaving at 12:30 (final destinantion Newcastle). "Great", I thought, "I'll be home for lunch before 1"!
Not quite - more like:
12:30 - Wait for something to happen
12:55 - Depart Kings Cross
13:10 - Stop south of Oakleigh Park
15:40 - Start moving again
15:45 - Stop north of Oakleigh Park
16:45 - Stop at New Barnet
17:30 - Start moving again BUT IN THE WRONG DIRECTION
17:45 - Arrive Finsbury Park
That's a journey of about 2.5 miles in 5.25 hours elapsed, an average of 0.48 mph! Is this a new GNER record?

And then I still had to get home. In the end my wife drove down to Cockfosters and I managed to get on a tube to there and walk 2 miles up the traffic jam until we met:) Got in at 8pm instead of 12:55. At least I made it in the end - thoughts go out to those who were stranded.
Can I help?

It's the same all over the country.

I'm based in London with my girlfriend at home in Manchester. I was consoling her via mobile tonight as she walked the 12 mile journey out of the city center to home!

Apparently all trains from Piccadily were cancelled and all roads were gridlocked becuase of the motorways being closed!
