Pre-payment to Billing meter
Hi,
My brother in law as a pre payment meter which he would like it to be changed to billing meter. He has contact SSE but they will charge him £52 to get it changed. Is their any way around this?
Are their any suppliers out their who wont charge to change the meter?
Thanks
MS

British gas do not charge but me ask for a security deposit against future bills which is returned after 12 successful direct debit payments0

Changing probably makes sense only if a) the deposit isn't huge (although I've heard £200 quite reasonable) b) they're know they're going to be in a property for a year or more (otherwise may be tricky ensuring they stick to terms to receive back deposit), and c) that with being with BG for 12 months will cost less than the £52.0

British Gas actually do a credit check. If you pass it they will change the meters, if you don't they will ask for a deposit. This was last year so of course things could change.0
