British Airways v Virgin Atlantic?

Vigin Long Haul count 12 - BA 15
I'd choose BA - Virgin have the gimmicks but that's about all. Ten years ago I would have chosen Virgin hands down but they have consistently got worse over the years. BA have superior support and back up IF things go wrong as any flight has the potential to do.
As for leg room you won't find much difference between the two, if that's your priority choose someone like American.
Ironically I wouldn't chose BA as a short-haul preference.
Obviously one major consideration in the current climate would be the potential of BA cabin crew to take strike action in the near future.0 -
Don't know about Virgin but BA have the option of booking in online within 24 hours of departure. That means you can choose your seats online too. You can then turn up at the airprt only an hour before departure too.0

Depends how tall you are !
People I know (have to !) travel to the States on Virgin, they all complain about the lack of legroom. BA is meant to be better.
On the basis of this I flew BA back from Miami last month, It was awful ! they have jammed the in flight entertainment box on the seat leg, reducing the legroom even more. If Virgin is worse than that, it doesn't bear thinking about !
I would say that if you are more than about 5' 8" tall be prepared to be uncomfortable, or pay twice as much for Economy Plus - now, I wonder if that is why Economy is being made so awful ?0 -

hmmm...maybe there are some benefits to being 5ft 3in after all......lol....;) :rotfl:0 -
I have never been more uncomfortable, or rudely treated by cabin staff than on our Virgin flight from NYC.
BA are polite, delivery an amazingly high standard of travel, and have far more comfortable seats.
The virgin ones are so upright, you are almost sitting forward.
Dont fly with Virgin - you will regret it.0 -

Lucky devil ! in this case anyway.0 -
Virgin anytime, it beats BA by miles0

BA have 14,000 cabin crew, the standard is bound to vary.
BA fly B767 aircraft to Newark EWR, these aircraft are configured 2-3-2 across, I find them more comfortable than the larger aircraft.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
We've flown to Florida with Virgin on 3 occassions and recommend them.
Sister travel BA once and Virgin the next time and decided that in future BA can get stuffed.
Both have there fault it just seems that Virgin is a company that wants its customers, BA is a company that want to exisit on its PREVIOUS reputation (god help 'em)
