Council tax: Commital to prison/bankruptcy order

    I've made an online payment to them of £250 this is all I have to give them.

    Will set up a standing order but it can't be for this amount each month more like £175. That would be less than I was paying MC recovery but that's what I can do right now.

    Brassica, ask your council if they have a 'FAIR DEBT' policy!!!

    'Fair Debt' is a means of paying back a minimal amount along with your current payments. IE if you live in council property/social housing and have rent arrears you can lump both sets of debts together. This way you can pay off your arrears at an affordable amount, whilst still maintaining to pay your current rent & ct.

    If you owe the bank, change bank this stops them taking money as and when they like. IE if u earn £250pw what are the bank taking in loans etc etc.

    More importantly I would advise that you seek help from your local CAB or some other debt agency.
