gov grants for new central heating?
hi everyone are government grants still available or have they stopped doing them now for replacement central heating ,we have an old back boiler which is probs about 15 years old but still running but i do not think it is very safe anymore and it is not very energy efficient .I am working but on a fairly decent wage so do not think i would be eligible for a grant but my daughter is still living at home and she has a 12 months old child and she is on benefits thanks
I am also on a dmp with my creditors and with CCCS and there is no way i can afford new central heating
thanks all

Unfortunately its very hard to get grants now and the money they have allocated can run out before end of financial year. Trying looking on energy saving trust web site there a tab for grants on there.
I dont think you stand much chance you said your working and on a decent wage so they probably expect you to pay they wont take into account what you pay for in debts0 -
What makes you think you are entitled to a grant when you have no disabilities? Save up some money like everybody else.0

I must confess to having thought it unlikely / cheeky myself when reading the first paragraph. The second however seems to suggest the poster is unlikely to be able to afford to just save up.
You could try Energy Trust as suggested above, warmsure or direct gov websites for more info. but it may not be easy to get a grant if not on benefits even if genuinely struggling to finance replacing it I'm afraid.0 -
In other words: living beyond her means. It's amazing how many people that claim poverty spend more than the cost of a new boiler every year on booze, fags, cable tv, fancy mobiles, fashion, foreign holidays and many other luxury items.I must confess to having thought it unlikely / cheeky myself when reading the first paragraph. Amazing how many people with disabilities smoke, go on holiday, wear the latest fashion etc....
At least those "living beyond their means" have put a bit of effort into getting those items...
Arent sweeping generalisations great.TESCO EVERY LITTLE change to the t&cs HELPS0 -
Why do banks operate without adequate capital reserve?
Why do people buy houses they can't afford to maintain?
Why do people buy cars they can't afford to insure?
If you make rules and try to enforce them, can you afford the cost of the prisons?
Make me emperor, so everything belongs to me, and I will order everyone learn a useful trade and maintain the world properly. Salesmen, agents and middlemen in general will be thrown into the arena for entertainment.0 -
If you live in England, the only government scheme is Warmfront and you won't qualify for that since they tightened the rules (and slashed funding by two thirds). For that, you need to be extremely poor and the boiler needs to be broken (or to have no heating at all). You could try your local authority, but that is unlikely these days - those local schemes have all died a death due to funding cuts. In short - save up the money, I'm afraid.0
