A&L / Santander / MBNA Credit Card - Please help...

Hi all

I've finally (after just over 8 weeks) had a decision from Santander regarding my Alliance & Leicester CC mis-selling complaint and I'm hoping for some guidance regarding their decision and what happens next...

I had an A&L card from May 2001 until 2008, I originally complained to Santander and they have finally upheld my complaint.

Santander state that they have have no data from 2001 until March 2003, when MBNA took over the account; they have contacted MBNA and have taken an average of my PPI payments from 2003 until 2008 and used this as the basis for my redress.

So, they've refunded 22 * £63.22 per month (£1390.84) + 8% interest (£1070.95), a total of £2461.79 (I've checked this through the bank charges calculator - thanks smitchy - and it seems correct) and tell me that they have written to MBNA regarding my claim from 2003 until 2008.

I've called Santander today to enquire why APR interest hasn't been added to the refund and they've said that, as they only have limited information from MBNA, they're unable to restructure the account, as opening balance, closing balance, PPI payment etc would be required to accomplish this.
Therefore they are unable to do anything else and the offer above stands...

I have a couple of questions -

1. Is what Santander are telling correct? And are there any other options to recover the contractual interest paid on the PPI payments

2. What will happen now with MBNA? Will they go through the whole investigation process again, or will it just a case of calculating redress that is due? As ultimately it was A&L that started the contract and they have upheld.

3. Does anybody have any experience of the above? What kind of timescales should I be looking at?

As ever, any advice greatly appreciated.

Many thanks
MB
