Wireless Repeater - what to look for?

I've got an old white BT Homehub on the upper floor, with a Squeezebox Touch connecting wirelessly to it on the lower floor; however, diagnostics within the SB Touch show signal strength 20% or so, since the signal is going through a structural wall, which I assume to be more than woodwork and plasterboard.

Moving the homehub isn't an option, and the SB Touch has been moved as close to the homehub as can go.

I see mention of wireless repeaters, but don't really know what to look for in this field. Not really getting anything definitive from googling, so if anyone can provide any positive suggestions or experience.....

Repeaters can work OK, but I found it very difficult to get one working. Have you looked at Homeplugs which give you a 'wired' connection via you ring main?

    Worth a look.

Wouldn't even consider them. I want a clean mains supply for the HiFi, not one that's modulated by network signals.

Besides which, there's two ring mains for the two different floors, so the two units wouldn't share a common ring.

Homeplugs would have been my answer as well - I have had some issues with mine but after trying everything replacing the sky router seems to have got it all working ok.

Have a look at the reviews for repeaters on amazon - very quickly you realise that while some people had them working out the box other people had to get very technical to get theirs working. Never seen a product where there is such a big split of reviews between brilliant and useless with very little in the middle.
