Short term bike insurance

My son is looking to sell his 125 scooter as he gets his car next week. The bike is insured up to next Monday (he gets the car on Tuesday) but obviously if it doesn't sell by then we'll need to insure it.
I've read that a lot of bike insurers will charge you 60% of the annual premium even if you cancel after a couple of months so what's the best way to insure the bike?

Could he take a monthly PAYG policy?
It won't be 1/12th the cost of an annual policy but it shouldn't be 60% either.
There is one here

I have quite a few friends with ebike (one who has claimed) and they all seem to be happy.
I've been with them myself but not had a claim.0 -

Just run a quote through - they want £316 per month as opposed to £176 per year!!xxx Nikki xxx0
