Theres a Time plasma tv advertised in a magazine for £999 42" HD ready. Does anyone know if these are any good for the price or should you steer clear??

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO :)

From what I've read review wise they are dreadful worthless pieces of nonsense.

There are lots of better 42" plasmas around that price range which are far better. Look for a panasonic, Lg or samsung are all good makes IMO.
