Question about high value items on contents insurance.

What is considered to be a high value item and do I have to declare everything?

My OH has given me a list of stuff he wants to be covered on the contents insurance, eg snowboard - £600, fishing equipment - £1000, piano - £500. He's got 2 bikes worth £400 and £1500 and I presume these need to be on the policy as well as my ring which is worth £4000.

Do I really need to have everything listed in the quote? Where do I draw the line?

You need to have a look at your policy to see what's covered automatically.

For example if it covers bicycles up to £500 per bike, then you only need to list the £1500 bike and not the other one.
If it covers say valuables to £15K total and single item limit of £1500, then you'd need to list the ring seperately.
So basically anything that isn't covered by your policy automatically as standard.

At a guess, I'd say the expensive bike and the ring.

if he wants pedal cycle cover away from home (not a daft statement, not everyone does) then normally these are all listed.
