I do. I have some pictures of my bakes on the cake making thread.
Those cupcakes were a present when I received a very short notice invite and needed something pretty to take with me that day. To be honest I was too embarrassed to say I wouldn't take them when I realised how much they were or I'd have gone elsewhere and bought something less pretty but more reasonably priced. I'm just posting what I paid to hopefully avoid anyone else having the same experience.
I do appreciate the effort that the owner of that shop puts into her cakes by the way and I'm sure they're competitively priced for what they are. It's just they're way out of my league and may be out of other peoples' too.0 -
Sorry, post was addressed at OP really, just going off your point about cupcake shops not being very MSE0

I simply cannot bring myself to spend money on a cupcake. I just can't knowing how much it costs to make them and how much they charge. I don't mind it so much if it was a cafe with big overheads etc, but people selling them at fairs on a pasting table looking £3 are just extortionate.0

This thread has as much to do with Money Saving as an aardvark has to do with long distance running.0

I agree - they are ridiculous prices !! I live around the corner from that place on Bloomfield Avenue and popped in one day on my way to the doctors. I couldn't believe the prices they were charging. My girlfriend can make superb ones, but I would never pay 2 or 3 quid for one of those things....0

They aren't the cheapest but they are a nice present for someone, my OH bought me some personalised cakes for my birthday and it was a nice touch. I'm a good baker, and my cakes are delicious but they never look as perfect as the ones you buy.The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0

I don't see them that much more expensive than a decent tray bake or cake slice sold in most cafes and they are home made with quality ingredients. The topping is butter cream and considering the price of butter at the minute the price seems justified. It is a little bit of indulgence that I'm prepared to pay for. If I wanted to bake a dozen at home I would, but I would only eat them.. Now the price of coffee that does bother me, £2 a cup and it's only boiling water and a spoonful of coffee!0

If you are on FaceBook try searching Cupcakes Belfast. There seems to be hundreds of people making them.[STRIKE]Less is more.[/STRIKE] No less is Less.0

I know that in Norn Iron many people expect others to do things for them compared to other parts of UK or abroad, but this is one of the few really useful (and perhaps the only) NI forums for people who genueinely want to find out information to help to make ends meet. Maybe it is worth trying to keep it that way.
I have reported this as thread as spam.0
