where do i stand(used car)
Options
bought a car approx 3 months ago, car is an 04 plate bought from dealer, after 2 weeks a fault occured and we reported to the dealer, he says he cant find the fault, even though my mechanic has diagnosed the fault. after 2 months the fault is condiderably worse so take back to dealer again he cant find anything wrong. i took it to my mechanic who has put it on a machine and and diagnosed a new problem as well as the old one. the warrenty he sold me doesnt cover the problem and the dealer has said he will go halves on the repair
im not really happy with this outcome and i just wondered where i stand on this

As above what is the actual fault you experience?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
its an 04 ford focus c max auto tdci, the first problem was we couldnt always get it into park it was just flashing so you couldnt get the key out, our mechanic said this was the selector switch, it now keeps coming up with transmissin malfunction and the code is for the solonoids0

Had the oil changed? Most will never see any fresh oil for the life of the car which is not a good thing.
Fresh oil every 5 years or 50,000 miles will help the box last longer.
I would try flushing the box with a couple of oil changes.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
update, the dealer has apparently fixed the car, he replaced the selector switch and i was told the solonoids came as part of the kit so they would be replaced at the same time.
we are not experienceing any problems getting it into park but we still get transmission malfunction come up.
any ideas?0 -

Hi
I have been investigating purchasing a c-max & always prefer autos.
On a few forums (not sure if allowed to state- but google & you will find), there seems to be many auto gearbox problems if they are of the CVT type (not old fashioned type auto).
It's a known problem on CVT boxes & very very costly!!
If i do buy it will be the facelift 2008 model onwards with 2.0 petrol engine & conventional auto box.
I do hope you have no further problems,0 -
